Halfway there!!!!

Yes, it is true, we are expecting baby number two!!! So excited to be halfway there!! McKenna is so excited to teach the baby everything she knows and more! She has been practicing with her babies and is going to be quite the little helper.

What does this mean to my business? Well it means a limit of about 4 sessions per month, still focusing on newborns, kids, teens, seniors, and their families. It also means I’ll be wrapping up sessions by mid-August. I’ll be on a nice long maternity leave from September until late January, to spend time with the new baby and my family. Then it’ll be back to business as usual. Please feel free to call/text/email me with questions or concerns.

There is just one more thing. To accommodate my clients that love the fall sessions as much as I do, I will be holding fall Mini Sessions on Saturday, October 15th. Sessions will be about 30 minutes each and there must be at least five for me to do it. The location and the details will come out at a later date but if you want to get on the list and have not already contacted me, please do. I am thinking, a few digital images for you to print and use as you please as well as Christmas cards will be included in the package. So please pass this on to your friends so that we have enough to hold these. I have a few people already expressed interest, just need a few more. The Christmas card styles are going to be very original as always!!

If you have already contacted me for a session and we have scheduled, that session will go on as planned unless you hear from me. If you are on a baby plan, we will do sessions as planned. If you are a current client and want to schedule something during that time, I would love to do some more photos for you, so please do not hesitate to contact me!

If you have a question, do not hesitate to call me. All depends on how easy this baby is when it gets here, I may start taking clients slowly if there is a demand. So please, if you are interested, contact me!

This little guy's parents were supposed to be having his last baby shower on Saturday, but instead he decided he wanted to be present for it!! Coming into this world 4 weeks early and sweet as can be, meet Landon! Only 4 days old and weighing 5 lbs 4 oz today, he is so adorable!!

If you follow me at all, you know I like junk, here is something I reused, I found this in one of our fields, buried for who knows how long. Makes a great vase for my flowers I picked in my yard, don't you think?

This weeks subject for my Bloom 52 on Friday project is Growing, I sure have lots of stuff growing around the studio so this was a great time for this subject!!! Enjoy my tour of the stuff growing outside the studio!! I just love when you move all the brown away and find new green buds coming up!!

Assignment for my class this week!!

As many of you who follow me know, I am taking another class with the wonderful Brooke Snow! She has really taught me a lot about how to look at things from another perspective and shoot more of life and not just poses!!! I can't wait to get back outside this spring and get my sessions in the natural light of the outdoors with the natural backdrops!!

This was our last week so we had to post a photo that told a story in one image. I think that this one is perfect.

Our daughter was so excited to see the Princesses at Disney this past week...she ran up to each of them and gave them the biggest, longest hug she could!! I just love this photo as it shows just how excited and happy she was to be there and seeing that special princess!!!

The second half of my assignment was to post a self-portrait!! Most moms are behind the camera too much and not in enough photos. Sometimes you just have to use the timer to get a photo of you with your kids. Nothing wrong with that!! Your kids will not care in the future what you looked like, just that you are in the photos too!

I am taking another class from the amazing Brooke Snow and here is a post from this weeks assignment. This class is a Lifestyle class, more about documenting things in my own family as well as telling a story with my photos. We got a new game over the weekend and so we had to test it out!! Here are a few of the shots I got to tell the story of playing this game.

We also got a new race track...she has been wanting something that she can put her cars on so they go really fast, we got that figured out and Daddy even wanted in on this fun!!

I can't believe that this little guy is now one! It seems like yesterday we were doing his 6 mth photos. He is active like any other 1 year old and it didn't take him long to figure out that he wasn't going to look at the black thing I was holding in front of his face. BUT, I got some cute ones anyway!!!

Just thought I would let everyone know, there is someone new scoopin' the loop!! And he is styling!!

Bloom 52 - Week 7 - Celebration

This weeks theme is Celebration!!! I thought I had a great idea on this one but it didn't work out so well and then I came up with this one while sitting in church Wednesday night!! We are now into the Easter season! I have had my eggs and spring type decorations out for almost 2 weeks now hoping that putting the snowmen away would make the flowers pop through. Well, we got one more snow however the 60s are being forecasted for next week so there is hope!!!

While we celebrate our risen Savior most kids will be on the look out for the Easter Bunny and hunting for hidden eggs. I got this image at a recent photo shoot and loved it and felt it worked well for Celebration!!

You might remember these two cuties from this session back in December. My how the time flies, Sebastian is already 3 mths and Armando is 15 mths. They are growing up so fast. I love it when Baby Plan babies come back to see me so I can watch them grow, they change so much.

Yes, we may have got a few smiles, but he was pretty stingy with them...kept them all for mommy!

Big brother was a ham today!! He was all about being in the photos and just hamming it up!! He showed us some of his moves!

This weekend one of my good friends had her first Baby Shower!! It was a morning filled with good food, fun games and lots of goodies for the baby!!

My daughter had a party this week and they decorated cupcakes as you see above. I thought it was so cute, I had to take a photo of it and it has many shades of red on it! Very festive for the holiday, I thought!

What do I treasure...well there are a lot of things I treasure but when I think of objects, I think of the jewelry that my wonderful husband has given me over the years! Each piece has a story behind it, each piece I can't wait to pass on to my children someday and then they can pass it on to their children someday!
I love this image...it shows who is closest to my heart at all times. It shows my two favorite people, the loves of my life! In the background, a sampling of all the history with my husband and I am sure he will continue to add to my collection!

Inspiration

For the last assignment in my online class with the wonderful Brooke Snow, we were to plan a shoot that had to do with something that inspires us. As I said on Friday, I love old things, so what do I do when I get to pick where to shoot?!?! If you can't go outside, you go inside and I have been dying to shoot inside West End Architectural Salvage. If you have never been to this place, you should go! Even if you don't decorate with old stuff, it is just a neat place to go! They have something for everyone, t-shirts, antiques, junk, junk made into new cool stuff!! This is the best place to go to hang out and they even have a coffee shop that serves coffee, beer, wine and pop! So you can get a drink and walk around and browse! The owner of this store is the best and he will help you with whatever you like, want something custom made? You need to go there, he will figure out how to make something out of nothing! Ok, enough about that...let's get to the photos!

My model Kayla was a rock star!! She did so great on this shoot and was open to anything! She is a senior in college and so this is a great time to get photos of her!

Couple's Session!

Today I had the pleasure to meet up with a wonderful couple who volunteered for this week's Creative Session! Another session for my class that I have been taking!! Eric and Wendy are another match made by eHarmony!! They are perfect together, so to all my single friends, it does work!

This wonderful couple is going on 4 years of marriage and they are so in love. You can tell by the way he looks at her that he just adores her!

They are going back to Mexico on vacation soon and leaving this cold weather for a short time!! They will have so much fun!! I hope they bring back some of the warmth for us here in Iowa!!

Creative Session with Jodi

Today I got the pleasure to visit with a fellow church member! I have met her in church, seen her at playgroup, connected on Facebook and then stalked her into being a model for my creative session for this week! As you might remember, I am taking a class with the wonderful Brooke Snow and am loving the assignments each week, they are getting harder and harder. I am dreading week four but we will see what I can come up with!

Here are the photos from today's session, what a cute mommy! She is just over 20 weeks pregnant with her third baby, still just a little bump!!

I love the next one too! She is just gorgeous!!

Meet Makayla Mae

Introducing Makayla Mae, born on New Year's Eve!! Mom and Dad never found out boy or girl and what a great surprise to add a girl to their family!! Now their family is complete with a girl and a boy! Congrats again, hope you enjoy your sneak peak, she is an angel!

What a fun morning, thanks Mom and Dad for coming to see me!!

As you may have seen I am taking a Photography class to enhance my skills, you can never stop learning in this industry!! I am loving every bit of it and I have to post my assignments on this blog...so once and a while you will see some of my assignments...this was one of them, kind of. The assignment this week was to prepare a detailed shoot, draw up a shot list and exhaust it. Well, I do this with every session so that I can think of ideas before hand and then use them, so this was an easy assignment! I am not always very creative on my toes so a shot list is something I have always done to help me out during a session.

Today's session went well...I pretty much stuck to the plan but as with any newborn, you have to roll with the punches!! They never want to sleep when I am ready for them to sleep and are awake at the wrong time but, we made it work and got some awesome images.

The assignment was also to find a new location but since we are in the midst of a subzero cold spell as well as a snow storm...I could not get to a new location, however we did try a new location in the studio and got some cute shots there, which I have never tried before.

Family Session

A while back I donated a session to a silent auction for a little girl that was in the hospital, born with complications. You can read her story here. She is doing much better now and home but still has a long road and lots of bills.

Carrie was the lucky winner of the auction and I had the honor to do a session for her, her new fiance, her soon to be mother-in-law and her soon to be sister-in-law! They were a riot and we had a good time, it might have included some bribery of m&m's...but there is nothing wrong with that, I do it all the time!!

February Mini Session Date announced

Starting with the new year I am starting to do one day (maybe more) of Mini Sessions a month. This is a chance for you to update your photos and not have to pay for a full session as well as they are half the time so it might be better for little ones!

Mini Sessions last 30-45 minutes and are $100. You will have 10-15 images to choose from in an online gallery. I do ask that your order be at least $200 with the session so that I can keep doing them.

Valentine's Day Session!

Today Greyson and Macy came back to see me!! They are so fun to photograph!! Macy is at that age where she likes to pose and Greyson, well, he is at the same age as my daughter, he likes to run away!! But it was so nice outside we got to go outside and do some shots, that was the best!! December 30th and 60 degrees in Iowa, unbelievable, but true!! Love it!!

Then outside we went!! The light was just perfect and the temp...well, I already said that was perfect! No coats in December, I could get used to this!!

Hope you are enjoying the nice night, going to be back to below freezing soon, snow and freezing rain on the way. Sounds like Iowa.

Meet Sebastian, at three weeks old tomorrow he is so cute! He arrived to the world 5 weeks early as a surprise to his mom and dad. But what an angel!!! Weighing in today at 5 lbs 12 oz he is just a little guy but he will steal your heart. He isn't even supposed to be here yet but what a blessing he is!

Mom and Dad, I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!! There are so many it was hard for me to choose. I could not resist to take one of his full head of hair!!!

I would like you to meet Owen and Luke, twins that are one week old today!! They came to see me this morning with their mom, dad, big sister and grandma!! What little angels, they slept the whole time and I had a blast with them!!

Parker was back for his 3 month session tonight!! He is part of my 1st year plan so you will be seeing lots of him over the next 9 months!! He is just so stinkin' cute, how could you not love him! Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing one of my great friends, her boyfriend and her girls!! They have been clients for a long time and I always love taking their photos!! We had so much fun!! They are always up for anything...

Meet Markel!

We have a new visitor to our house...Markel showed up today to watch over us to make sure we are good and he will report back to Santa. McKenna has had to tell him a couple times already that she is sorry for what she did but so far it has been working like a charm!! I know it seems I have not posted a lot lately...mainly because I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off! I have so many things going right now it is just crazy busy but that is not all bad! I am actually looking forward to some time alone during hunting this weekend so that I can stay up until all hours of the night to get caught up! I have a feeling I will not be getting much sleep come this weekend.

BOOKING UPDATE, I am currently booking for 2011...please call me if you are thinking about a session so we can get it on the books. I have already booked a few sessions, I have a feeling it is going to book up fast! I am only taking a limited number of sessions each week to ensure that I have quality family time.

Tree Farm Difficulties

This was my first year doing the tree farm so we have some kinks that we are working through after a busy weekend and next year we will know what to expect. Sorry again and please feel free to contact me with any issues.

If you had your photos taken at the Kidman Tree farm this weekend and are having issues printing those photos from the CD, please email me at questions@lynndemarayphotography.com. It appears that something got changed when making some of the disks and they are not large enough to be printed other then wallets. They are good for online use but aren't able to be printed. I will make it right, I am currently uploading them to a website that will allow you to order them at rates comparable to Target and Walgreens, but it is taking time to upload all those images. I do greatly apologize for any trouble this has brought you. If you would like a replacement disk sent to you, I would be happy to do so, please let me know.

Again I am very sorry for this and want to make it right with you.

This busy shopping day I was not out getting the best price on things like many of you were! Instead I was busy getting photos of cute kids for the holidays!!! I hope you got lots of good deals.

My day started with this little one, Olivia. She wasn't really feeling it at first but then she got into it.

From there I headed to Kidman Tree farm where I arrived just in time to get Santa coming in on the wagon!

Santa had lots of visitors today! He was asked for a lot of toys and other things, iPods and remote control toys, I am sure he will remember them all!

Here are just a few of the many people we got to capture today, it was a fun day! Tomorrow will be even warmer, come out and see us!

If you want a lot, you better bring your list so you don't forget a thing.

Santa will be riding in on the wagon again tomorrow, the wagon and Santa come down the hill at about 10. Santa has to go home at 4. $10 gets you a free 5x7 with Santa, $20 gets you the CD with 3-4 images. Come on out!! Only two more days.

She got a framed storyboard, which is so neat!! The frame makes it look so rich!! Much nicer then a frame you can get at Target!

Today I finally got what I have been waiting for!! I saw this on another blog that I follow and since I saw it, I have wanted it! (If you want to check out where I saw them, click here! She has really cool DIY posts almost daily!) Well, they went on sale and my current one is running out at the end of this year so it was time to invest!!!

It came so neatly wrapped it was like getting a present in the mail!!

It is called a momAgenda!! It is so perfect for me!! Places for appointments, places to take notes about your kids and quotes for every couple of days and a place to write what is for dinner!! I have been looking for something so that I can journal as I go about my daughter...what she says each day, what she does...just notes...so I remember the date and what it was!! I can't wait to start using it!!!

The best part is, it looks cool!!! I got to pick my color, it is 5x7 so it still fits in my purse and it is better then what I was using!!

Eyes of a child...

I take lots and lots of photos of our daughter...I don't mean just the occasional one here or there, I am a photographer, I take them constantly. I want to capture and remember every detail. My mom would always say, "when she is asked to draw a picture of you in school, you will have a camera for a face." LOL!! That is probably right but I will never forget a detail about her and she will love all the photos when she has kids.

Today I am sharing some photos of my little one from a few weeks ago and how she sees me. She has her first camera now and whenever I say I am going to take some photos, she runs to get it! When it comes to taking photos, she knows where to look, but doesn't do it very often! Most times, all I can get is her camera and cheesy smiles but it sure is fun watching how she sees me and how she uses her imagination! Here you can see, she is taking my photo, then turning it on herself!! I did manage to get one of her before she came in to get her camera!

"Say Cheese!" That is what her camera says, one of the many things!!! I must say it is neat having someone look up to you, one of the many perks of Motherhood! Enjoy today!

I wanted to wish you all a Happy Halloween!! The festivities in this neck of the woods were last night, so I thought I would share some of our photos!!

And now to fill you in...Teddy got a costume in the mail and he has been in and out of it about a million times!! He is Woody from Toy Story, as you can see! He had to stay home and keep watch over our bucket of goodies. Since this was our first year with a Trick or Treater we all wanted to go, so someone had to man the door! McKenna loved getting candy!! After a couple houses she really caught on and was turning around and telling us, "next house!" It was so cute!! I can't believe how fast time has gone and how independent she has gotten!

If you came to our house and we missed you, I am sorry...it was weird not seeing everyone's costumes this year but we sure had fun and are sure tired from all our walking!! Now what to do with all that candy?!?!?! Have a great one!!

A little something you might not know...

If you know me, then you know I kind of have a thing for junk. My husband and I share this trait and it can be very fun and very interesting all at the same time. The last couple of days I have been up north at our farm with my husband. He grew up in that area and we know lots of people. Small towns and old farms are the place to go if you want junk that no one else wants!! Well...while he worked, our daughter and I hung out, road farmed and just bummed around in the truck!

Yesterday afternoon one of our friends asked me if I wanted to look through one of his buildings...um, duh, OF COURSE!!! It was a gold mine to say the least!!! He was going to burn it all and I was in heaven!! Here are some of my finds...since winter is right around the corner I plan on showing you what I am going to do with these over this long winter in IA!!!

Oh and a couple of them...well we found those in a field that we had some trees removed from...just walking around in the field and I found some really neat stuff while the trees burned in the hole!!!

One more quick thing about me...I love the Country Sampler magazine, I can't get enough of it and the ideas it gives me for decorating however, another friend introduced me to Flea Market Syle Magazine that comes out in February, might just be the new winner in my reading list!!! Also found these books...these are my new night time read...oh the things you can do with someone else's junk!

Here are my finds, or "picks" as the American Pickers say!! Which by the way is my favorite show of all time!!! Now remember, this is how I found them, I will show you what I do with them in time!! They have not been cleaned at all, just emptied!

I am working with another new album company and I absolutely love what they do!!! Custom covers and the pages are thick, it lays flat!! It is a perfect album for everyone!! This is also the album that is included in the First Year Package. It is a 10x10 and so perfect with the child's information on the first page!!

Meet the Smith's! They are my neighbors and I used to work with the mom! Before they moved here, we lived in the same neighborhood and then we moved by them. They think that we followed them but we didn't...we just liked the neighborhood and the house.

J comes over often and plays ball with my daughter. If she was old enough to have a boyfriend, I bet it would be him! She adores him. He plays so nice with her and is sure teaching her how to get down and dirty! Pretty cute eight year old!!

I could not pick on this one, I liked the black and white, but I like the color too so I had to put them both on!

He was so excited when I told him about the next pose...what little boy doesn't like to climb on top of the pile!?

Today I finished up an album for a client! This is going to be printed as a 10x10 album with a custom cover! These are awesome and once I get it I will for sure post photos of it! I can do this for babies, kids or anything. We can do one a year for your child and show how much they have grown with info pages for them or whatever you want, the possibilities are endless!! It can be an easy way to scrapbook every year!

Obviously my logo would not be on your finished album...that is just for copyright reasons on the web!

I cannot wait to see this final book! It is going to be wonderful! The mother plans on keeping this to display and when he gets older, she plans to give it to him to keep and show his family! How cool is that!?!?

I know this family from church and their kids were so easy to take photos of!! 1, 3, and 6 are their ages. I am beginning to think I like anything under 2 and 3 and over! They don't run away from me like the 2 year olds do, they actually cooperate and follow directions!! I hope those days are coming soon for us!
Here are a few of my favorites, there were a lot so this was hard!

I love this first one!! I know you can't see their faces, but I just think it is perfect for a mudroom or something!

You might recognize this next little face!! He was here a few months ago for some photos by himself...now he is 1 year old. Time sure flies. See his previous ones here!

And then we have the middle brother!! He is the ham of the group, always being silly but I got a few good smiles from him!

The next one has a little story behind it...I was told that she had been practicing poses at home, but she wouldn't show me any of them...so I asked her to put her hand on her hip and she was so excited because it was one of the poses she had been practicing!!

What cute kids!! I am sure there will be more of these to share...I had so many to chose from...have a good one!

Like I said, you are going to see more of this family!! Here are a few more from my morning session yesterday!!

A little bit about them...Macy is 3 and Greyson is almost 2...I can't believe how much older Macy is compared to my daughter and she is only a year older. Guess a lot is going to change in this year!

Greyson was so funny...I think this photo totally shows his personality!

This next one...well...it makes me giggle when I look at it. I am going to let you use your imagination as to why everyone is looking at Dad!! The question we asked them sure made them look! Only the five of us and the trees are going to know for sure what everyone is looking for, but I just love it!

And then we have Greyson!! He is a goer, just like my daughter...I got my workout chasing him!

I don't think he is mad in the next one...but maybe he was getting sick of me...I think it is cute!

Saturday full of fun!!!

This morning started off with the cutest little kids!!! They were so fun and such good models!! You may remember these two as they had their Halloween costumes on last weekend and now today, we are doing fun fall photos!! I had to pick a couple to share with you...more to come!!

I asked M to sit on the crosswalk...she told me she would rather lay down and got into this pose all by herself! Like I said, we have a model on our hands here!

The little man...he likes to make we work at it! For some reason the curb was something interesting...he sat here for a good 15 minutes and let me take whatever I wanted.

There will be more to come from this family...I just had to get a couple on here tonight!! There are a lot more to chose from!!!

This next family I did today are good friends of mine! They would do anything for us. Here are just a couple from their session!!

How cool was this location?!?!? The water wasn't even that cold...it felt good on a hot day like today! Hard to believe we had snow this day last year and today was 85 degrees!
